Lactazar for children
How many times a day should Lactazar be given to a child? The instructions do not say exactly the number of times per day.
According to officially approved recommendations for use, Lactazar is taken with each milk feeding (at the rate of 1 capsule per 100 ml of milk). Therefore, if your child currently receives only dairy foods, then Lactazar is given at every feeding. If dairy-free complementary foods are introduced (fruit and vegetable purees, meat, etc.), then adding Lactazar to such feeding is not required.
What is better to dilute Lactazar in - milk or water?
According to officially approved recommendations for the use of Lactazar for Children, the contents of the capsule must be diluted in milk or dairy food before use. Dilution in water is not provided. When using Lactazar for Children, the time and volume of milk/formula for dilution is determined by the period necessary to obtain a homogeneous suspension.
A child is bottle-fed, diagnosed with lactase deficiency. What is better - to give a regular mixture with Lactazar or to buy a special low-lactose one?
The selection of the optimal formula for the baby should be carried out by a specialist, based on his physical condition and an assessment of the severity of lactase deficiency. There is an opinion that to feed a baby with lactase deficiency, it is better to use a regular formula and additionally take lactase preparations, since the supply of milk sugar is very important for the proper formation of organs and systems in the child, especially the brain. The validity of using low-lactose and lactose-free formulas is determined by the pediatrician observing the child.
Is it possible not to dilute Lactazar, but simply pour the capsule directly into the child’s mouth?
Due to the risk of asphyxia with dry powder, it is strictly forbidden to give the contents of the capsule to the child without diluting it in milk.
Is it necessary to use Lactazar during night feeding?
When Lactazar is prescribed, it should be given to the child at every milk feeding (breast milk/formula), i.e. including at night.
Is it possible to store expressed milk with diluted Lactazar in the refrigerator?
When feeding expressed milk, Lactazar should be given to the child, diluted in a portion of milk immediately before feeding. According to the officially approved recommendations of the manufacturer, the use of Lactazar for the preparation of milk food for future use, for the purpose of storage and use after a period of time, is not provided. The enzyme included in Lactazar is used without prior exposure (without adding an enzyme to the product, diluting it and leaving it for fermentation).
My baby is 2 weeks old, all symptoms indicate lactase deficiency, the doctor prescribed Lactazar. Can lactase deficiency appear so early?
Yes maybe. Temporary (transient) lactase deficiency, which most often occurs in newborns, usually manifests itself at 2-3 weeks of a child’s life.
Is it possible for a nursing mother to use Lactazar so that the enzyme passes to the baby directly through breast milk?
Lactase drugs work only in the intestinal lumen. The only substrate for the action of lactase is lactose. The enzyme is not absorbed into the blood. Remains of unclaimed enzyme are excreted from the body naturally with feces. The drug cannot pass into breast milk. Therefore, in order to compensate for lactase deficiency in a child, Lactazar must be given to him, and not to the nursing mother.
Currently, my child is on mixed feeding - first I breastfeed him, then supplement him with formula. How to take Lactazar in this case - give 1 capsule in front of the breast and add 1 capsule per 100 grams of mixture to the mixture?
If you are breastfeeding your baby and additionally giving formula, then we are talking about mixed feeding - you give your baby Lactazar (previously diluted in expressed milk) once before breastfeeding, then supplement the baby with formula from a bottle. The calculation of Lactazar is based on the ratio of 1 capsule per 100 ml of milk (total amount - both breast milk and in formula).
What are the causes of lactase deficiency (complicated pregnancy, poor nutrition of a nursing mother, heredity)?
The causes of lactase deficiency are most often hereditary predisposition, prematurity and the presence of inflammatory bowel diseases. In newborns, we are usually talking about the so-called transient lactase deficiency - a condition that occurs in normal full-term children due to the immaturity of the enzyme system of the gastrointestinal tract.
We are bottle-fed, now we eat 120 ml of formula per feeding, will one Lactazar capsule be enough for this volume?
The recommended dose of Lactazar is calculated by the formula: per 100 ml of milk or formula - one capsule of lactase enzyme 700 units. If the baby eats more than 100 ml of milk during one feeding, it is recommended to use two capsules. The degree of lactase deficiency in children can be different, i.e. In some, the degree of enzyme deficiency is significant, in others it is minimal. It is advisable to select the effective dosage individually, depending on the clinical picture. If you have any doubts about use, it is recommended to consult with your supervising pediatrician.
After what time should the dose of Lactazar be reduced?
As a rule, symptoms of temporary lactase deficiency (frequent, watery, foamy stools, bloating, colic, regurgitation) disappear by the end of the 4th month of the child’s life.
Lactazar withdrawal is carried out gradually, as the intestinal enzyme system matures, carefully monitoring the baby’s condition. It is better to start the withdrawal with daytime feedings, and not with evening or night feedings, so that if manifestations of lactase deficiency occur again, they can be controlled. When discontinuing a lactase drug, monitoring by a pediatrician is necessary.
With congenital lactase deficiency, lactose (milk sugar) intolerance persists throughout life, therefore, when consuming milk or other products containing lactose, additional intake of the lactase enzyme, for example, Lactazar, is necessary.
The doctor prescribed the use of Lactazar and Acipol. Lactazar is used simultaneously with dairy foods. Acipol is recommended for children over 3 months of age to take with food, dissolving the contents of the capsule in water or milk. Let's say I cooked porridge for my child, is it possible to add both Lactazar and Acipol to it at the same time?
Interaction studies with the simultaneous use of Lactazar and Acipol have not been conducted. The combined use of the lactase enzyme and probiotics is not limited. Based on the recommendations for the use of Lactazar, it is taken with each milk feeding, and Acipol - 2-3 times a day with meals; children over 3 months of age are recommended to dissolve the contents of the capsule in water or milk. Therefore, when preparing porridge with milk, you can add Lactazar at the rate of 1 capsule per 100 ml and the contents of the Acipol capsule, provided that the temperature of the dish does not exceed 37°C.
Is it possible to add Lactazar to goat milk formula?
Lactazar is recommended as an additional source of the lactase enzyme, which breaks down the milk disaccharide lactose. Therefore, Lactazar is added to any dairy food containing lactose.
Lactazar can be added to milk formula made from either cow's or other types of milk, including goat's.

I’m writing a review here for the drug Lactosar when there are already 40 reviews here! But I just can’t help but write this review! This is, indeed, the very medicine that helped us cope with colic, and which to this day helps my daughter maintain digestion.
My daughter was never diagnosed with lactase deficiency, as such. There were problems, we tested the stool, but they never told us the result, and there was no analysis on the card. But the doctor prescribed this drug to us even before we tested the stool. And he began to act, so I decided not to bother and not to spoil the relationship with the pediatrician.
My daughter started having colic when she was 3 weeks old. And it was terrible. Constant bloating, gas, crying. It was hard to see her suffer, but nothing helped. We rocked him to sleep, soothed him, held him in a column for 20 minutes after feeding to regurgitate gas, laid him on his tummy before feeding, massaged the tummy clockwise, tucked his legs, put a warm cloth on him. Nothing helped. They gave Espumesan at every feeding, then switched to Baby Calm. We tried to alternate these drugs. But in vain. So we suffered for more than a month. Then, at our 2-month appointment, the pediatrician prescribed Lactozar for us.
We started giving Lactozar 7 times a day, since my daughter is fed on demand (that is, she ate several times a day without medication). We give the medicine during feeding. I start feeding, and my husband goes to prepare the medicine. My husband dilutes the Lactozar tablet in a spoon in warm boiled water (about 37 degrees). Then I stop feeding and give medicine (my daughter always happily drinks it from a spoon, smiling at the same time), then I feed again.
The result became noticeable from the second day. The daughter began to cry less. My stomach stopped swelling so much. After a couple of days of taking Lactozar, stool began to appear. Before using it, my daughter could poop 8 times a day, and the next day only 1, and always at different times. Moreover, she pooped, farting, in small portions, and this caused her discomfort. So she could poop for half an hour, and we sat next to each other, calming her down and performing the operations that I have already listed above. After using Lactozar, my daughter began to poop every day and mostly 2 times - consistently in the morning and in the evening. The process was divided into a maximum of 2 times and lasted no more than 5 minutes. Now my daughter is 4 months old, and we still give this drug, but once a day, mainly before bed. The dosage was gradually reduced over about 3 weeks. We've been giving him one tablet for about a month now.
I would also like to note that my daughter’s regurgitation has not completely disappeared. To this day, we try to carry her in a column for at least 5 minutes after feeding and do not allow her to roll over onto her stomach for about half an hour, otherwise she will spit up.
And in conclusion, I would like to note that I read a lot of reviews and every time I bought a new pack, I was told that it was a fake. But we never found a fake. The packaging is as follows.
I recommend Lactozar to all mothers who have learned what colic and lactase deficiency are!

Advantages: dissolves quite well
I read about this enzyme in some magazine. At that time, we were already quietly going crazy from our baby’s terrible colic. Before this, we tried all the standard medications and methods that are recommended for colic (espumisan, subsimplex, plantex, tummy massage, warm diaper, etc.... we even tried to change the formula (we are bottle-fed), nothing helped
Laktazar, there was a last chance... and it helped us!!!!. I won’t claim that colic magically disappears, but I can say for sure that after a week of taking it, the child became much calmer. We are now 4.5 months old and I can say with confidence that lactazar is helping. The main thing is to take and store it correctly.
During the entire period of use, I came across packs that did not work!......It is really clear that the medicine does not work. That is, the baby is calm and calm, then you open a new pack, start giving, and after 2-3 feedings, we returned to terrible colic.
Now I can already tell by the appearance of the powder from the capsule whether it will work or not. At first they thought that they came across fakes (I read about this on another review forum).
I called production in Kursk, we checked the series and batches there. Everything was fine. The parties were legal. As a result, we came to the conclusion that the medicine was not stored correctly (and most likely not in the pharmacy, because there were cases of purchases of the same series in different pharmacies, and the medicine did not work)
In general, the right medicine should be like flour (easy-flowing). When poured into milk, it does not immediately sink, but spreads a little over the surface.
The wrong medicine has the consistency of starch, it pours into milk in one lump and immediately drowns. That is, most likely the required humidity parameters were not met during storage.
The medicine helps. The main thing is to give it at every feeding and in sufficient dose.

During breastfeeding, the stool can be any color, you don’t need to pay attention to it, provided that the baby is active and nothing bothers him. Also, during breastfeeding, the baby may not poop at all if the milk is completely absorbed by the body. Not going on breastfeeding for up to 5 days is the norm. Place on tummy before each feeding to make it easier for them to poop. But if the child is capricious and cries, then it is worth getting tested. From my own experience, I say that we had lactose deficiency and intolerance to cow protein, so there was green stool, frequent regurgitation, moodiness, problems with stool (could not poop), poor sleep. I have removed all milk from my diet and take lactazar before each feeding, as the baby was changed. I began to sleep well, there were no whims or hysterics, my bowel movements returned to normal, and I stopped burping frequently. Also, don’t forget to give them some water between feedings - it’s like a laxative for them, it’s been proven to help.

We started taking the drug “Lactazar” when the child was one and a half months old. I was breastfeeding, the baby had loose stools, his legs buckled, he cried during feeding, his tummy hurt, and then he vomited. It was a nightmare! I was diagnosed with lactase deficiency. At first they wanted to switch the child to formula, I was against it, and they offered me a treatment regimen. Before each feeding, she gave an anti-reflux mixture, then dissolved one capsule of Lactazar in breast milk, and supplemented the rest with breastfeeding. We took it for 2.5 months, and then, gradually stopping the drugs, switched to pure breastfeeding. Thanks to Lactazar treatment, my baby was breastfed until he was 1 year 3 months old!

Advantages:
Helps produce the enzyme lactase.
Flaws:
Not convenient capsules; Not very cheap, especially when added to the mixture.
This is a very long story about how we encountered lactose intolerance. My child was admitted to the hospital with severe weight loss, stayed there for two weeks, and at the time of discharge we were told that Lactazar for Pharmstandard children should be added to breast milk. But due to a long separation from the child, the milk began to decline and I had to give formula; the instructions stated that Lactozar is also suitable for use in formula. Of course, we didn’t give it for long as we quickly switched to a lactose-free formula, but there were a lot of problems with them. Lactosar is a great help for allergies to these mixtures; you can pick up a regular one and add these capsules there. But of course, when a child screams, it is quite problematic to open the capsules and pour them into the mixture. It would be more convenient in a jar of powder. But since they did it, it’s necessary. In general, this product helps with any type of feeding and gives the child peace of mind, since without it the food will not be absorbed.

Lactazar helped us a lot. From birth we suffered until 3 months, no matter what we tried, nothing helped, we didn’t let go of the gas tube, I read on the Internet that it helps and started giving it to the child. and lo and behold! It helped from the first appointment! I gave it until 6 months and it was not at all stressful for me to give this supplement every feeding. because I didn’t want a repeat of that hell in the first 3 months. Then they gradually removed it and everything returned to normal!

Lactazar is truly our salvation, I don’t know where I would be now and what would have happened to my child if I hadn’t started giving it using the “scientific poking” method!
