What is Polysorb and its release forms
The task of the enterosorbent agent Polysorb is to eliminate harmful toxic substances from the human body, which are the product of the breakdown of pathogenic microorganisms. The drug also removes allergens, medications and poisons. The main active component of this medical product is colloidal silicon dioxide, which is isolated from silica by a chemical reaction.
When passing through the gastrointestinal tract, the sorbent binds poisonous and toxic components and removes them from the body.
In this case, the drug itself is not absorbed by the intestines, but is excreted in its original form.
Polysorb is available in the form of a white powder with a bluish tint and is odorless. The product is packaged in paper bags of 3 g or in polymer containers of 12, 25 or 50 ml. A suspension is prepared from the powder, which is given to children to drink as prescribed by the pediatrician.
This sorbent is prescribed for allergic reactions, diathesis, poisoning and other diseases of the intestinal tract.

This is a yellow substance that is processed by the liver and excreted in the urine. Excess of this substance enters the blood and turns the newborn’s skin yellow.

How to give Polysorb to a baby?
In case of poisoning or intestinal infection, the doctor prescribes taking the drug for 3 to 5 days, depending on the severity of the condition. On the first day, the daily dose should be divided into 5 doses, the suspension is given to the child at intervals of 1 hour. On the second day, the daily dose is divided into 4 parts, on the third day - into 3 parts, on the 4th day - into 2 parts.
Taking the drug according to this regimen will cleanse the baby’s body by almost 90%.
The daily amount of sorbent for a baby weighing up to 10 kg is ½ part tsp. Weight up to 20 kg – 1 tsp. without slide, over 20 kg – 1 tsp. with a slide. Dilute a portion of the powder in 50 ml of boiled water. To make it easier for the child to drink the suspension, the powder can be diluted with breast milk for up to six months.
