Lactation is a time of great responsibility in a woman’s life, when she is most attentive to the choice of foods for her diet. Is it possible to eat cottage cheese during lactation? Is sour cream harmful to children's bodies? Will these fermented milk products cause colic in a newborn? How much and how often can you eat fermented milk products, and what dishes from them will be the most delicious?

The dough is the basis of the dish

For an infant, the ideal food option is mother's milk. During this period, a woman can eat dumplings, since they are made from dough without yeast and sugar.

It is best to buy 1st grade flour. It is made from the shell of grain, so it contains the maximum amount of components beneficial to the body.

Flour plays an important role - the choice should not be limited to the highest grade. It is obtained from part of the grain that contains a lot of starch. Some manufacturers specifically bleach it. Such additives negatively affect the digestion of not only the baby, but also the woman.

You can knead the dough only after you are completely sure of the freshness of the eggs. To check, place them in water. If it floats up, it means there is excess hydrogen sulfide under the shell. This indicates that it is best to stop using the product immediately. The body of newborns is very susceptible, so it is not recommended to use the ingredient in this form.

Place the filling inside and pieces of butter on top. Place fruit on a baking sheet. Place in the oven at 180 degrees for half an hour.

Baked apples are a delicious and healthy dessert for a nursing mother.

To prevent apples from cracking due to temperature, pierce them in several places with a toothpick. Choose green varieties of apples to avoid allergies. Some baked apple recipes contain honey. It is an allergen, so it is not recommended for mothers to eat it so as not to harm the baby.

  • Beef is a type of meat recommended for lactation. It is well absorbed by the body, very healthy, rich in Fe. It is one of the first to be introduced for complementary feeding of the baby. The only contraindication to eating beef is an allergy to cow protein.
  • Pork is a fatty type of meat (see Pork during breastfeeding). A nursing mother can eat it, it is hypoallergenic. But you need to choose parts without lard or with a minimum amount of it (see Lard during breastfeeding).
  • Chicken is dietary meat, tasty and healthy. But children are allergic to chicken protein quite often.
  • The best types of meat for mother and baby are rabbit and turkey. They are hypoallergenic, easily digestible, rich in vitamins and other nutrients, and low in calories.

The selected meat for minced meat is ground using a meat grinder. Add onions, salt and a little black pepper. Nothing else is required for this.

The dough for homemade dumplings should be prepared from good quality wheat flour, preferably from durum wheat. It also contains water, milk, eggs, and salt. A fairly stiff dough is kneaded. Dumplings are made from it manually or using special devices. They must be placed in the freezer immediately.

By following our tips, you will prepare very tasty and safe dumplings for a nursing mother. It’s better to make a larger quantity of them, because they can be perfectly stored in the freezer for several months. This way, you will always have a quick and tasty lunch at hand.

Useful properties of the product

Can a nursing mother eat cherries? The berry has a pleasant sweet and sour taste. Additionally, it enriches the body with the following elements:

  • citric acid;
  • sugar;
  • fiber;
  • tannins necessary for the normal functioning of the body;
  • proteins;
  • pectins;
  • minerals such as calcium, potassium, sodium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus.

Cherry compote during breastfeeding enriches the body with folic acid. It has a positive effect on the functioning of the nervous system. This provides additional blood flow to the brain.

Coumarin, a component present in cherries, has a positive effect on the composition of the baby’s blood. Thanks to this, eating the product serves as a prevention of blood clots. Positive effects were also found on the heart muscle. Anthocyanin is a substance that gives the fruit its red color.

Almost all mothers are sure that red fruits should not be eaten while breastfeeding. However, this criterion is not categorical. You can gradually include such fruits and vegetables in your diet. It is important to monitor the baby’s reaction. In this case, it is guaranteed that no bad changes will occur in his body.

After the baby is born, the mother suffers from exhaustion and a lack of certain components. That is why it is recommended to make the menu as varied as possible.

Lush dumplings with steamed cottage cheese

Fans of especially fluffy dumplings should definitely master steaming them.

Required ingredients:

  • 500 kg of kefir;
  • 1 tsp soda;
  • 0.75-0.9 kg flour;
  • a pinch of salt;
  • 0.5 kg of cottage cheese;
  • 2 yolks;
  • granulated sugar.

How to make steamed dumplings:

  1. Mix the flour sifted and thus enriched with oxygen with soda and salt.
  2. Add kefir to the flour mixture, mix them with a spoon to distribute the ingredients evenly, when this becomes difficult to do, start kneading the dough by hand.
  3. To prepare the filling, mix cottage cheese with cold egg yolks and sugar, add vanilla if desired.
  4. We roll out the dough into the thinnest possible layer, cut out circles using a glass, put our curd filling in the center of each, and mold the edges.
  5. Boil in a double boiler, multicooker or on double-layer gauze wrapped around a pan and secured with an elastic band. If the latter option is chosen, then place the dumplings on cheesecloth and cover them with a bowl on top.
  6. Cooking each batch takes about 5 minutes; while the first ones are cooked, you can successfully make the next ones by organizing a kind of conveyor belt.
  7. Serve topped with butter or sour cream.

How long to cook dumplings with cherries or strawberries

What is summer without sweet dumplings with fruits or berries. The favorite filling of many is cherries, strawberries, black and red currants, apples and even a combination of berries.

How to cook dumplings with cherries or strawberries

In a saucepan

  1. The algorithm is the same as in the previous methods. We boil water, salt it, throw the dumplings into the boiling water, as soon as they boil and float, you can try one to find out if they are ready. If the dough is ready, you can take it out.
  2. In such dumplings there is no need to cook the filling; the faster we get the dumplings, the fresher the berries or fruits will be in the filling.

In a slow cooker

Read the previous methods. Dumplings with cherries or strawberries are prepared in the same way. Steam for about 10 minutes, and if in the bowl itself in water, then 3-4 minutes after boiling will be enough.

In the microwave

  1. To preserve the taste of the filling, place the dumplings in a microwave-safe glass container, cover with a lid, and again fill 2/3 with water.
  2. First, select the maximum power so that the water boils, then reduce it to 700 W and cook for 4 minutes.

As you can see, the question of how many minutes to cook dumplings is difficult to answer unambiguously. After all, the time depends on the filling: it is ready or raw, also on the size of the dumplings, on their method of preparation (in water, steamed, in a slow cooker or in the microwave), on the thickness of the dough. If you are not sure if the dumplings are ready, try one, then after cooking the first batch you will be able to determine how much time is enough until done.

Cherry pie - tasty and healthy

  • premium flour – 220 grams;
  • six fresh chicken eggs;
  • butter – 200 grams;
  • half a kilogram of cherries;
  • 280 grams of sugar.

Stages of preparing the pie:

  1. Using a special tool or manually, the yolks are separated from the whites.
  2. The cherries must be previously defrosted and washed.
  3. In a special container, mix butter, sugar and yolks.
  4. The ingredients are whipped until a stable foam appears.
  5. Only the whites are beaten in a separate container.
  6. Add flour and egg whites to container number one. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  7. The dough is poured into a mold that has been greased in advance.
  8. The mold is placed in the oven at 180 degrees for three minutes.
  9. After this, cherries are laid on top of the dough, and baking continues for another half hour.

The recipe is incredibly simple. It is guaranteed to please the mother and will not harm the baby’s body.

Potato filling

Boiled potato filling is healthy because this vegetable contains a whole range of important microelements, including calcium, phosphorus, iron, etc., and they are easily digestible. A large amount of potassium helps maintain optimal water-salt balance and remove excess water from the body.

To prepare dumplings, choose potatoes that have been stored correctly - in a cool place away from sunlight. The greenish color of the tuber indicates a high concentration of corned beef - this is a toxic substance and it is necessary to avoid getting it into food.

For dumplings, crushed boiled potatoes are used with the addition of a raw egg and a pinch of salt. You can add dill.

Conditions for product selection and storage

  • The color of the berries plays an important role. Your choice should be on rich cherries. In this case, they will have a pleasant taste and aroma, and are guaranteed to bring health benefits.
  • You should avoid buying soft and sticky fruits. In this case, they have been in the open sun for too long and have already deteriorated. All berries with cuttings can be stored for a long period of time.
  • To increase the shelf life of fruits, they must be washed and dried. Next, the seeds are removed from them. The cherries are placed in containers and frozen in the chamber. In this case, you can please yourself with fresh compote or fruit juice at any time of the year.

Cherry pie - a healthy sweet

How dumplings with potatoes can be useful for breastfeeding

Potatoes are a healthy and necessary vegetable during breastfeeding. As you know, in the recipe for dumplings it is used boiled, but this does not significantly reduce its valuable properties.

Potatoes are rich in a large number of useful substances (iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, vegetable proteins, starch and many others). All of them tend to be easily absorbed in the body.

Eating dumplings with potatoes helps:

  • Removing excess fluid from the body.
  • Normalization of water-salt balance.
  • Reducing blood cholesterol levels.
  • Rapid saturation of the body.
  • Reducing the level of acidity in the stomach.
  • Strengthening the musculoskeletal system.

The benefits of sour cream and cottage cheese

Healthy protein, which fermented milk products are rich in, is extremely necessary for the body of a nursing mother. Thanks to their properties, these products quickly establish the proper functioning of the entire body during the recovery period after childbirth. Curd products contain a number of amino acids (methionine and tryptophan), which are necessary for the successful functioning of the body during breastfeeding:

  • protect the liver from hepatosis;
  • help normalize the process of removing bile from the body;
  • calm the nervous system;
  • improve metabolism.

Curd products will be excellent companions at the table not only for mother, but also for her grown-up little one. By starting to get acquainted with them during complementary feeding, the child will receive a lot of nutrients:

  • vitamins of groups A, B, E, C, PP;
  • calcium;
  • phosphorus;
  • iron.

When choosing sour cream, nursing mothers should give preference to less fatty options (10-15%). It can be actively used instead of mayonnaise, dressing salads, and also decorate the taste of any soup or side dish. A wonderful dessert for a nursing mother would be a mixture of cottage cheese, sour cream, raisins and sugar (more details in the article: (more details in the article:)).

Does it make sense to prepare sour cream yourself? The store-bought version is better suited for consumption. The choice was not made in favor of a homemade product, here's why:

  1. Excessive fat content can lead to negative consequences in the child’s intestines and upset him, because the enzymes in babies are not yet developed enough to be able to digest such complex foods.
  2. The homemade version is very high in cholesterol. Choose low-fat products on store shelves. It is desirable that the shelf life of fermented milk products be short, from 3 to 7 days.

How should a nursing mother eat dumplings?

Even though the dumplings themselves can be consumed during lactation, one important factor must be kept in mind. This is how, how much and with what you can eat them

Here we pay attention to the following:

  1. Use of sauces. Usually dumplings are served with ketchup, mayonnaise, vinegar or pepper, or even with all the sauces at once (we recommend reading:). Needless to say, this is unacceptable for a nursing mother’s menu. In this case, low-fat sour cream or light frying of onions in vegetable oil is allowed.
  2. Quantity. Even if you only eat homemade dumplings, you don’t need to get too carried away with them. Do not forget that for the full development of your child, you must eat a varied diet. In addition, overeating your favorite dish is fraught with two unpleasant consequences for you - a detrimental effect on your figure and stomach problems.
  3. Place in the diet. Focus on eating dumplings once every 2 weeks. In this case, the portion should consist of 10-15 pieces. It will also be better if you eat this dish in the morning or during the day, but not at night.

Consider various similar options, only with other fillings. It is not necessary to use only meat. Get creative and do something different - manti with vegetables, dumplings with potatoes (boiled or raw), cottage cheese, berries. The main thing is to confidently use only those products to which neither you nor your baby is allergic.

Who can eat and how much?

The mother can eat fermented milk products in their pure form and dishes made from them from the first month of breastfeeding. It is important not to overdo it. A serving of cottage cheese and sour cream in its pure form or as a dish should not exceed 100 g. During breastfeeding, it can be consumed no more than three times a week.

When purchasing, pay attention to the method of storing the product and the tightness of the packaging. If you notice a spoiled product (unpleasant odor, changed color, viscous consistency), do not hesitate to throw it in the trash. Eating such food can be harmful and even dangerous. Diarrhea, colic and poisoning - these can be the consequences of taking a low-quality product. A mother with lactose intolerance should avoid. This congenital feature is associated with a lack of an enzyme in the body that could digest lactose, which, as is known, is found in all dairy products. Most likely, the baby will also inherit this feature.

If a baby is lactose intolerant, all fermented milk products should be excluded from the diet of the mother and baby.

People suffering from kidney disease, gastritis or atherosclerosis should be very careful when consuming the fermented milk product in question. Protein in the body of such people will be very poorly absorbed.

The fat content of cottage cheese directly depends on the fat content of the milk used for its production. Today, the following fat content options are distinguished: 0%, 1%, 4.5%, 9% and even 18-20%. If you want to prepare dishes or baked goods from curd products, take a low-fat or even low-fat option, because other ingredients will already add calories to the dish. It is quite possible to pamper yourself with a pure product with high fat content already in the first month after giving birth, but in this case it is important for a young parent not to get carried away and not to overdo it with the quantity.
