How to make applesauce
In order to prepare tasty and, most importantly, healthy applesauce at home, you need to know a few secrets.
- Freshly prepared puree, if you plan to eat it right away, does not require heat treatment or added sugar. Its benefits are maximum. If you want to prepare this dessert for the winter, you need to cook it with the addition of granulated sugar, which is a natural preservative.
- Apples of autumn varieties are suitable for preservation.
- If children or nursing mothers feast on them, then red apples will have to be abandoned, as they sometimes cause allergies.
- To obtain a delicate puree, you will have to grind the products very carefully. To do this, you need to rub the apples through a sieve or grate them very finely, pass them through a meat grinder, and beat with a mixer. First, the seed box is removed from the apples. It is also necessary to clean them.
- Jars and lids must be sterilized - only in this case the dessert will not turn into poison.
The remaining subtleties depend entirely on the specific recipe.
Simple apple puree recipe
What you need (for 1 liter):
- apples (peeled) – 1 kg;
- water – 0.2 l;
- sugar – 150 g.
How to cook:
- Peel the apples, remove the cores, cut into medium-sized cubes.
- Place the apple slices in a saucepan and cover with water. Simmer for 20 minutes after the liquid boils.
- Grind the fruit with a blender.
- Mix with sugar, allow it to dissolve in the apple mixture.
- Bring the puree to a boil, remove from heat.
- Place the dessert in sterilized jars and seal them tightly.
- Place the containers on the lids and cover them with a blanket. Let them cool in a steam bath, this will increase the resistance of canned food to unfavorable storage conditions.
Applesauce, made according to the simplest recipe, will surprise you with a pleasant taste. In addition, it is not capricious; it can stand at room temperature.
Healthy foods with pumpkin or prunes
When you want to prepare not only a tasty, but also healthy apple dish for the winter, housewives use the following recipes:
- With prunes. For 3.5 kg of not very sweet apples, take 1 kg of pitted prunes, half a glass of sugar, lemon and 1 liter of water. We wash, peel and cut the apples into small equal cubes. Transfer to a saucepan, which we put on the fire, add sugar and water. Boil the mixture for 20 minutes after boiling, stirring regularly, then add the washed prunes, cut into medium-sized pieces. Keep everything together on low heat for about 40 minutes, stirring as often as possible (get to the very bottom, otherwise the workpiece will burn). Now the product needs to be cooled and its components crushed until smooth. At the last stage, the apple dish is left to boil for another 10 minutes and can be put into jars and stored for the winter.
- With pumpkin. We take apples and pumpkin in equal proportions. If we take 1 kg of these ingredients, then we will additionally need a tablespoon of orange zest and a glass of sugar. Cut the pulp of apples and pumpkin, cleared of seeds and peel, into small cubes and steam them until soft. Grind fruits and vegetables using a blender or grind through a sieve, place in a bowl with thick walls and add the remaining ingredients. Bring the product to a boil and keep on low heat for 10 minutes. Place the applesauce in jars, cover with lids and sterilize in a saucepan with water for another 20 minutes.
Once the basic recipes are mastered, you can begin experimenting with the ingredients. You can adjust their quantity, replace sugar with sweeteners, add spices and seasonings. Apples are one of the most versatile fruits, so they go well with most other fruits. The finished product does not have to be sweet. Classic recipe for homemade apple puree
Homemade Applesauce
What you need:
- apples – kilogram;
- water – half a glass;
- sugar - half a glass;
- lemon juice - a teaspoon.
How to cook:
- Prepare the apples, making sure to peel them. Cut into slices, put in a saucepan, cover with water, simmer for half an hour.
- Rub through a sieve, mix with sugar, lemon juice, cook for another 10 minutes.
- Place in jars (don't forget to sterilize them!).
- Close with screw caps. Wait for it to cool and put it away for the winter.
The puree is lightly sour and very healthy.
Healthy apple puree with honey
What you need (for 1.25 l):
- apples – 1.5 kg;
- water – 150 ml;
- honey – 60-70 g (2 tbsp.).
How to cook:
- Peel the apples and cut them into small cubes.
- Place the fruit pieces in a saucepan and add water to them.
- Simmer the fruit over low heat until it becomes soft.
- Rub the apples through a sieve or puree them using an immersion blender.
- Wait until the apples have cooled to 40 degrees, mix with honey. If the beekeeping product is candied, it does not hurt to first melt it in a steam bath or in the microwave.
- Place the healthy treat into sterilized jars and close tightly.
- Passively sterilize canned goods (allow them to cool slowly under something warm).
It is advisable to store this dessert in the refrigerator or in a cold room.
Applesauce and Banana Recipe
We will need:
- 1 kg apples
- 0.5 kg bananas
- 0.5 kg sugar
- 200 ml water
1. Peel and core the apples and cut them into pieces
2. Add water to the pan with apples and put on fire, remembering to stir
3. Peel the bananas (weight without peel is 500g), cut into rings
4. When the apples become soft, add bananas to them and simmer for another 5 minutes (until the mass becomes homogeneous)
5. Test the puree for sweetness. If you find it necessary, add sugar and simmer for a couple more minutes.
6. Using a blender, bring the mixture until smooth and bring to a boil.
7. Now all that remains is to pour the apple-banana puree into jars and roll up
Do not forget that the jars must be sterilized and pre-dried.
Apple puree with cinnamon
Applesauce with Cinnamon
What you need:
- apples – kilogram;
- water - glass;
- sugar - glass;
- ground cinnamon - teaspoon.
How to cook for the winter:
- Prepare the apples as indicated in the previous recipe.
- Fill with water, cook for 30 minutes, rub through a sieve.
- Mix with sugar and cinnamon. You need to cook for another 15 minutes.
- All that remains is to put it in jars (sterile, of course) and roll them up (or screw them on) with lids.
This recipe makes sweet applesauce with a warm cinnamon flavor. This delicacy can only be cooked at home.
Delicate apple puree with cream
What you need (for 1.5-1.75 l):
- apples – 2 kg;
- water – 100 ml;
- heavy cream (at least 30%) – 0.2 l;
- sugar – 0.2 kg.
How to cook:
- Sprinkle water on the bottom of a thick-walled saucepan or slow cooker.
- Place peeled and cut into small pieces fruits into a container.
- Simmer the apples for 30-40 minutes, then rub them through a sieve or puree them using kitchen appliances.
- After mixing the puree with sugar, bring it, stirring, to a boil.
- Pour in the cream.
- Wait for the apple mixture to boil again. Cook the puree for 5 minutes, turn off the heat.
- Place the dessert in sterilized containers and roll them up.
Dessert made according to this recipe should be stored in a cool place. It can be left in an unheated pantry, or even better - moved to a cold cellar or basement.
